Busy moms with kids at home need a workout schedule and plan that fits into their daily lives. If it doesn't, or it's unrealistic, it's only not going to get done.

But working out is good for our health. So how are you supposed to make the time for working out, and how many minutes are we talking about here? This article will teach you how to make time for your mommy workouts and the workouts you need for good health.

"I don't have time to work out as a mother!" You have no idea how much I related to this statement. It's exactly why I decided that of all those articles out there, I needed one specifically for moms with small kids at home. And so I'll be sharing simple, easy 10-Minute workout for busy moms with kids at home.

When I first had a baby, I remember thinking there was no way to fit in working out. And honestly, for most of that first year, I did not. But, after not having moved my body as much as it needed, I felt it after my second pregnancy.

One of the reasons why I didn't work out was because I lacked time. I felt that I couldn't make time to work out with everything that was happening in motherhood.

Even half an hour for a mommy workout can feel like a luxury.

Eventually, I resolved myself to not having time for myself. And well, ultimately, that backfired. I gained more weight than I was comfortable with, I didn't feel comfortable in my body, and I hid behind big skirts and large shirts.

In reality, I look back at the pictures during that time, and I look just fine. A lot of what I was feeling was in my head, but it resulted from low endorphins.

See, working out increases our natural endorphins.

Endorphins make mothers feel better and fight off negative feelings.

Endorphins are chemicals that activate in our bodies when we exercise. These chemicals serve as pain reduction and make you feel good inside. In addition, endorphins increase the positive feelings and thoughts you have about yourself and your world.

These powerful feelings of euphoria connect to our mental health. Therefore, the higher level of endorphins that you have, the more affirmative your mental health will be.

Have you ever noticed that after a workout, you feel, "I want to do that AGAIN."? (And also noting here that endorphins activate after good sex.) It's the reason why, after good sex, most people have a feeling of overall wellness and bliss.

It makes a lot of sense that I felt down about myself during those early years of motherhood when I wasn't moving my body much.

Now that I exercise regularly (and make it a priority in my life), I see a direct connection to my inner confidence and positive outlook.

Most moms don't have 1-2 hours to work out. But, the good news is that all you need is just under 10 minutes to activate your endorphins.

That's excellent news! It means that in just 10 minutes each day, you can produce your natural feelings of joy AND better your overall health (both physically and psychologically).

How can I exercise at home with kids?

As a busy mom, you can fit ten minutes to yourself. And here are some ways to do it:

  • Before the baby wakes up

  • After the baby goes to bed (assuming this is the early evening)

  • When your partner comes home from work

  • Before your partner goes to work

  • Before you go to work (engage your partner in morning preparations)

  • During your lunch break

  • When the baby is napping

It would be best if you had your floor (a yoga mat is comfortable) and dumbbells but this 10 Minute Floor Workout can easily be done even with the kids around you.

10 Minute Home Cardio

In this super simple but effective workout , you simply use your body. No equipment is needed at all. And personally, I think it would be super fun to do this with the kids.

12 Minute HIIT Workout (apartment-friendly)

You don't need much space for this one, but you'll for sure be sweating once done!

I like that this routine keeps you pretty much in the same small space and doesn't take that much room.

10 Minute Full Body Workout

You can do these directly on your floor without a yoga mat.

Yoga for Mothers

I recommend that during the week, you also do yoga workouts. Yoga also does not need to be 1+hours a day for you to get the benefits of it. I often will do 10-minute yoga workouts in the morning and feel endorphins as I start my day.

How to Make Working Out a Habit as a Busy Mom

Don't wait for the motivation to come. It may not. Instead, could you do it? You have to add it to your calendar and commit to a doctor's appointment as you would. You don't miss a Doctor's visit because you don't feel like it or are not motivated to go. You go.
